In a bold political move, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced it will contest all seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 without forming any alliances. Senior AAP leader and Delhi’s former minister Saurabh Bhardwaj confirmed this on June 11, stating that the party has decided to go solo after past alliance experiences, particularly with Congress. Bhardwaj also took a strong stand against BJP, alleging mistreatment of Bihar migrants in Delhi. He emphasized that the people of Bihar are ready to respond through the ballot box.

Saurabh Bhardwaj Declares: AAP Will Contest All Seats Without Alliance
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has confirmed it will independently contest all seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Saurabh Bhardwaj, senior party leader and former Delhi minister, made this announcement during a media interaction on June 11.
He clarified that the party has no intentions of joining any alliance, including the Congress. “In Gujarat, we respected alliance commitments, but Congress failed to reciprocate. In Bihar, we will not depend on anyone,” Bhardwaj said.
According to him, the decision reflects the party’s firm stand on political consistency and trustworthiness.
Criticism of Congress Over Gujarat Episode
Bhardwaj criticized Congress for breaking alliance ethics during Gujarat bypolls. He explained how both parties had agreed to field candidates only on seats they previously held. While AAP honored the pact, Congress fielded a candidate on AAP’s seat when the time came. This incident, according to Bhardwaj, highlighted the unreliability of traditional parties.
He stated, “We followed the understanding, but Congress didn’t. That’s not how alliances should work.”
Attack on BJP: Migrants from Bihar Being Mistreated
Bhardwaj also accused the BJP of mistreating Bihari migrants in Delhi. He claimed the government is demolishing their homes and pushing them back to Bihar by taking away job opportunities.
“If BJP can send Bihar’s people back, then Bihar’s voters can send BJP out of the state,” Bhardwaj asserted strongly.
What It Means for Bihar Politics
AAP’s decision to contest alone could change the election dynamics, especially if it attracts dissatisfied voters from other parties. The party will likely pitch its governance model in Delhi as a success story to woo voters in Bihar.
With this move, AAP has positioned itself as an independent force, ready to challenge both BJP and Congress in Bihar’s political arena.
