Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda’s recent statement has sparked a political uproar. Speaking at a Civil Defence Volunteers training program in Jabalpur, Devda said,

The entire country, the army, and soldiers bow at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet.”

He emotionally recalled the Pahalgam terror attack and said,
“Tourists were targeted based on their religion. Women and children witnessed brutal killings. Since then, the nation awaited revenge.”

Devda praised PM Modi’s leadership and thanked the army for their courage. However, his phrase about the army bowing to the Prime Minister caused major controversy.

This statement referred to Operation Sindoor — India’s military response on May 7 to the Pahalgam terror attack. India targeted terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. Over 100 terrorists and many Pakistani soldiers were killed.

The opposition condemned Devda’s remarks strongly. The Congress called his words an insult to the Indian Army and demanded his resignation. They said,
“Our brave soldiers protect the nation with courage. Saying they bow before any leader disrespects their honour.”

Congress urged BJP and Devda to apologize and step down.
This issue has divided public opinion and continues to dominate headlines nationwide.

Congress Demands Resignation
Taking to social media, Congress called the comment “shameful and degrading.” The party posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“At a time when the entire nation stands in respect of the Indian Army, BJP leaders are belittling their honour. Devda must apologise and resign immediately.”

While Operation Sindoor has been hailed for its precision and planning, Devda’s words have taken the focus away from the military success and ignited a fresh round of political finger-pointing.

Operation Sindoor, mentioned in the statement, was a major military offensive launched in response to the Pahalgam attack on April 22. Indian forces targeted multiple terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan, successfully eliminating over 100 terrorists and damaging key enemy positions.
